CASTING BOTANICALS WORKSHOP

Learn the techniques needed for good results in casting botanicals. The cast elements may be used as small sculptures, or they may be used to design jewelry with more detail.
Day 1: Students will wax botanicals, sprue and invest 2 flasks. Studio clean up at the end of the day.
Day 2: Finishing of castings will be covered while the flasks are burning out in the kiln. Students will centrifugal cast their 2 flasks when burnout is complete. Studio clean up by all students at the end of the day.

SUPPLIES TO BRING:
- 4 or more troy oz. of fine or sterling silver. This may be clean scrap or casting grain.
- Dust Mask
- Sandpaper 220, 320, 400 grit
- Dried botanicals such as Iris seed pods, Lilly pods, Artemisia leaves, twigs, thick grapevine, and tree bud branches work well.(2 ½ inches tall max)
- 1” Masking tape
- Permanent marker
- Apron
